Stakeholder urges State governement to collaborate with FG to reduce fuel subsidy removal

Since the removal of the fuel subsidy, transportation costs have increased significantly across the country. In Akure, many residents say the rising cost of transport has placed additional pressure on their finances, affecting their daily activities and standard of living.

Public Affairs Analyst, Oluwaseun Ogunmola, says although the government has introduced some intervention measures, many Nigerians are yet to feel the impact.

While calling on the government to rise up to do more in addressing the impact of subsidy removal, he said it has affected the livelihood of many Nigerians.

Speaking on the impact of increased transport costs, Ogunmola explained that students, traders, and civil servants are among the worst affected and called on state governments to work hand in hand with the federal government to address the impact.

On solutions, the public affairs analyst advocates increased investment in affordable public transportation. He recommends introducing more subsidized buses, improving road networks, and promoting remote work.

Ogunmola therefore calls on both state and federal governments to make affordable transportation a priority, noting that reducing the cost of commuting will improve productivity, support businesses, and enhance the welfare of citizens.
