Leaving children unattended in parked vehicles remains a major safety concern in many communities. Experts warn that children left alone in cars are vulnerable to a range of dangers, including heat-related illnesses, suffocation, emotional distress, and other avoidable accidents that could have tragic consequences.

Some residents say parents and caregivers must desist from leaving children alone in vehicles under any circumstance. According to them, apart from health-related risks, children left unattended in parked cars may also be exposed to security threats such as kidnapping and other forms of criminal activity.

Speaking on the issue, Temi Adeniran emphasizes the importance of constant supervision and vigilance when caring for children. He notes that many accidents involving children occur due to momentary lapses in attention that could have been avoided through proper care and monitoring.

Mr. Adeniran therefore urges parents and caregivers to prioritize the safety of children at all times, stressing that no errand or appointment is worth risking a child's life. He adds that taking children along or ensuring they are under the supervision of a responsible adult can help prevent avoidable tragedies.

As awareness continues to grow, parents and caregivers are reminded that no matter how brief the absence may be, children should never be left alone in parked vehicles. Child safety, stakeholders say, should always come first.
