The price reduction has generated mixed reactions, with consumers expressing optimism but questioning the slow implementation of the new pricing by fuel marketers.
One resident said fuel price regulatory authorities should monitor filling stations to ensure petrol is sold at the approved price following the reduction by Dangote Refinery.
She claimed that the effect of the price reduction has not being felt by residents, nor effected at fueling stations.
Another respondent claimed that petrol prices vary across states, noting that fuel is relatively more affordable and pricing more flexible in Akure than neighboring states.
While the price reduction has raised hopes of economic relief, many Nigerians believe its benefits will only be felt when filling stations fully implement the new pricing, they urged regulatory authorities to strengthen monitoring and enforcement to protect consumers.
