Update: Folawiyo assumes office

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr David Folawiyo in charge of Ondo/Ekiti Zone 17, has assumed office with a promise to set a new record in the security architecture in addressing crimes posing as threats to lives and properties around the coverage area.

On arrival at the police force headquarter Igbatoro road, Akure, the AIG was received by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin) Joseph Akinyede and other ranking officers of the command where the inspection of guards took place.

Speaking with newsmen, Folawiyo said his tenure will witness a new dawn in the security architecture of his mandate area through community policing and other strategies to effectively curb crime and mop up intelligence gathering.

It wil be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2020 approved a major re-organisation of Nigeria Police Force, creating a full-fledged intelligence unit cut out of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, and five new zonal commands, among other structural changes.
