Black Sunday: Church clears air on priest's abduction

 The Catholic Diocese of Ondo, has debunked rumours stating that the Priest of the attacked church, St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state was abducted during the attack on the church earlier today, which led to the death of at least 50 people, while many who have sustained varrying degrees of injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.


This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen hours after the incident by the Church Director, Social Communications, Rev. Augustine Ikwu.


According to the statement, "the Priests and Bishop are safe and non was kidnapped as the social media has it".


The Church noted that at this point in the situation of the country, Nigeria, the intervention of God is expedient, therefore urged the Christian populace to pray for Owo and Ondo state at large.


"The Bishop appeals that we remain calm, be law abiding and pray for normalcy to return to our community, state and country" the statement added.
