Residents of Ondo state and the Yoruba race today gathered enmasse to clamour for an independent nation of Ododuwa Republic from the present Nigeria.
This is just as different groups supporting Yoruba self rule participated in the rally which caused major traffic gridlock in Akure.
Major streets of Akure looked cramped as different groups affiliated with Omo Odua walked from one end of Akure to another singing oudua Anthem.
Members of the groups were seen in different uniforms, carrying placards, posters and banners with inscriptions like Omo Yoruba Ile Yaa, Yoruba self determination among others.
This is just as security agents were seen in strategic areas enforcing law and order during the rally.
Some participants at the rally said the agitations are due to their anger in the deteriorating state of the nation.
Upon the arrival of Sunday Igboho, the groups moved swiftly to the Deji's palace.
Some chiefs who welcomed the activist on behalf of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi charged him to make the rally peaceful.
Meanwhile, Sunday Igboho while appreciating them for their support revealed governor Akeredolu is in support of the rally.
He added that the rally is to express their anger over incessant killings of citizens among others.
The rally and since moved from the Deji's palace to other destinations.
