Ondo PDP Thugs, Imported Thugs From Oyo State Destroy APC billboards, Posters In Akure
We are petrified with consternation the crude manner in which our campaign billboards, banners and posters which have been erected for over three weeks were destroyed at “Ilesha garage”, MKO Abiola Democracy Park and other strategic areas in Akure by the PDP thugs.
The destruction of these structures erected over three weeks ago was carried out by PDP thugs in Ondo State with the help of imported thugs from Oyo State who were accompanied by security officers with OYSST label on their uniforms in an"Operation Burst" vehicle.
We condemn in strong terms the infiltration and unwarranted provocation of our people by thugs brought into the state by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the PDP thugs in the state. This is an assault on our democratic gains and affront to the good people of Ondo State..
We note with disappointment the deliberate attempt to intimidate and cow our people with the deployment of thugs into the street by the PDP in the state and the large number of security personel and thugs from Oyo State into Akure in preparatory to the PDP's flag-off rally today.
We are aware of the grand plan by the PDP to harass and intimidate our people with show of force in order to create a sense of jittery and insecurity ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
It's worrisome to see huge number of thugs from Oyo State occupying various drinking centers in Akure and harassing innocent members of the public.
These imported thugs alongside PDP thugs in Akure challenged every supporter and member of the APC wearing faze caps and T-shirt bearing the logo and image of APC and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN.
We are constrained to raise this alarm in view of the important event of the forthcoming governorship election in the State. The lives and properties of our people must be valued above political interests and aspirations.
Ondo State is known as a peaceful state with law abiding citizens despite the PDP's penchant for thuggery and hooliganism. Our people are ready to resist every attempt to bully them into supporting a failed political party that has nothing but violence to show.
We are calling on the security agencies to double their efforts and bring to book every criminal element that participated in the destruction of the APC billboards and posters in Akure.
For the people of Ondo State, we all can see the destruction of billboards and banners of the APC. we must collectively join our voices to resist any foisted individual from a political party that specializes in cutting corners and undermining the sacrosanct of the ballot paper.
We must reject the PDP.
