The peoples democratic party PDP has welcomed the Edo state governor into its fold on Friday 19th, June 2020
The party on its twitter handle, stressed that Edo has always been home to the PDP adding that a PDP government will always put the interest of the people first in line with the party's manifesto and guiding principles.
The PDP reassures all members of strict adherence to the principles of internal democracy in all its activities
Reports say, the National Working Committee (NWC), of the party is currently meeting with the Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shuaibu, who defected to the party this afternoon in Benin City, Edo State.
Obaseki has also been welcomed by other party members.
A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubaka also welcomed him.
"Congratulations, Governor Obaseki on joining our party, —the truly people's party. I am confident that the people of Edo State will be the better for it. You are indeed coming aboard a repositioned PDP that promotes good governance for the benefit of Nigerians."
